Masala Chai Apple Pie
Anyone who only puts cinnamon in an apple pie is missing out big time. Here's an extra spicy apple pie prefect for the holidays or summer cookouts.
20 m 8Ingredients
- Pie crust
- 3 green apples
- 2 red apples
- a little less than 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 3/4 cup STRONG Adagio Masala Chai
- a dash of vanilla
- 3 tbsp cornstarch
- This is a little vague because I cook by smell when it comes to spices
- Spice Blend:
- ground Adagio Masala chai (majority)
- a little ground cinnamon
- less ground nutmeg than cinnamon
- similar amount of allspice to nutmeg
Directions
Peel and cube the apples. Over medium heat, put the apples in a pot, add the juice and cook for 3 min. Add cornstarch, chai powder, and spices (trust your nose, it knows best). Cook for 2 min. Add tea and vanilla and stir until thick. Remove from heat and set aside. Roll the dough, set in a pan, cut the excess and roll again, cutting into strips. Fill the pie with apple. Make a lattice with the leftover dough. Bake for 40-45 min, or until the filling is bubbling. Serve with vanilla ice cream.
