Earl Grey Coffee Cake
Coffee cake made better with some delightful earl grey bravo. Mine was not pretty, but it was delicious.
15 m 10Ingredients
- 1 cup oil
- 2 eggs
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tbsp earl grey bravo
- 1 cup sugar
- 3 cups flour
- 3 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 ½ cup brown sugar
- 2 tsp spice mix containing cinnamon (or just cinnamon)
- ⅓ cup butter
- a few twists of Baker’s Secret (optional. ground coca nibs, nutmeg, and vanilla sugar work too)
Directions
Heat up the milk, and steep the earl grey for about 4 minutes. Then strain and mix the milk with oil, eggs, and vanilla. In a separate bowl, mix sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. Add some baker’s secret, mix em together, and then spread half into a pan. In another bowl, prepare the streusel. Melt the bitter and pour over the brown sugar. Mix in the spice blend and a few twists of baker’s secret. Put a layer of streusel on the cake, then more batter, then more streusel. Cover with tin foil and bake at 350 for 25-30 min, then take off the foil and bake another 10. Enjoy!
