Blood Orange Chocolate Cake
This delicious chocolate cake is reminiscent of a chocolate orange. It has a simple orange glaze that really brings out the flavors.

- Tea:
- 1 1/2 tsp Blood Orange Tea
- 1 cup water (to brew tea)
- Cake:
- 1 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cocoa powder (unsweetened)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 3/4 cup almond milk
- 1/2 olive oil
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup blood orange tea (brewed)
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 tsp tea leaves (from brewing tea)
- Glaze:
- 2 tbsp vegan butter
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 tsp blood orange tea (brewed)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
Directions
Brew 1 1/2 tsp Blood Orange Tea leaves in 1 cup hot water for 15 minutes. Finely dice brewed tea leaves and saved for later.
Preheat oven to 350F. Grease an 8 inch cake pan.
In large bowl, sift flour, cocoa powder, salt, baking soda and baking powder. Set aside.
Whisk together almond milk, olive oil, blood orange tea, vanilla, and tea leaves until evenly mixed.
Pour liquid mixture into dry ingredients, mixing until batter forms and is smooth.
Add batter to greased pan, bake for 25-40 minutes, until toothpick comes clean.
Allow cake to cool for at least an hour.
Once cake is cooled down, begin making glaze by melting vegan butter.
Sift powdered sugar; add melted vegan butter, blood orange tea, and vanilla.
Mix until smooth. Add more tea/ powdered sugar for desired constancy.
Slowly drizzle glaze on top of cake, allowing to drip down the sides.
